Manchester City will reject any offers for striker Julian Alvarez this summer despite ongoing interest from several top European clubs, including Chelsea, according to a report.

Alvarez, who completed his second season at City last term, scored 19 goals for Pep Guardiola’s team, contributing to their historic fourth consecutive Premier League title.

The 24-year-old featured in 54 matches across all competitions, ranking eighth among City’s outfield players for total minutes played.

Despite his impressive performance, the Argentinian World Cup winner has been unable to displace Erling Haaland as the first-choice forward for the Citizens, leading to speculation about a potential move.

Guardiola Intends to Keep Alvarez

However, Football Insider reports that it is highly unlikely Alvarez will leave the Etihad Stadium this summer. The Manchester City manager has no intention of entertaining offers for the Argentina International.

The Premier League champions hold Alvarez in high regard and are keen to retain his services for the foreseeable future.

Atletico Madrid reportedly approached City about a possible deal for Alvarez, but their offer was ‘flatly refused’ by the Premier League champions.

Paris Saint-Germain also inquired about the Argentine, seeking a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who recently moved to Real Madrid. According to Metro, City would require a minimum bid of £67.9 million, excluding add-ons, to consider a sale.

Alvarez was crucial to City’s lineup during injuries to Kevin De Bruyne and Haaland but found himself sidelined when both players returned to full fitness.

Alvarez’s Future with City

Alvarez joined City for an initial fee of £14 million from River Plate in 2022 and has three years remaining on his contract. Last year, he extended his stay at the club until June 2028.

During the 2023-24 campaign, Alvarez started 39 of the 54 matches he played for Guardiola’s side. He now has the opportunity to add to his impressive trophy haul as he is set to feature in Lionel Scaloni’s squad for the upcoming Copa America.
