Portugal International Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his readiness to depart Old Trafford this summer to avoid playing in the UEFA Europa League.

Ronaldo told the Red Devils to accept any bid that would let him leave the club this summer.

He has so far been linked with moves to Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

However, the report via the Mirror UK claimed that Manchester United’s headline sponsors are pressing the club to hold on to Ronaldo this summer.

The report revealed that the Red Devils will not give into Ronaldo’s demands to leave after some sponsors are believed to have helped in financing his £500,000-a-week wages for a return to Old Trafford.

It is understood that the sponsors want more than just a season of being able to tap into the 37-year-old’s huge commercial reach.

Ronaldo is known for playing in the Champions League every season and has played in Europe’s top-tier competition for 19 consecutive years.

Should he remain at Old Trafford next season, the streak will end as the Red Devils, are participating in the Europa League next season, having failed to finish in the top four on the EPL table.
