Man Utd Target New Striker as Gyökeres Alternative

Manchester United are reportedly exploring alternative options in their search for a new striker, with a €52 million (£44.5m) release clause presenting a tempting opportunity should they miss out on top target Viktor Gyökeres.
United initially set their sights on signing England U21 striker Liam Delap this summer. However, their failure to qualify for the Champions League — following defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final — significantly impacted their appeal. Delap has since opted to join Chelsea, forcing United to look elsewhere to bolster their attack.
Gyökeres remains a key target, and despite United’s lack of Champions League football, the Sporting CP forward is believed to be open to a move to Old Trafford. However, Arsenal’s interest poses a challenge, with the Gunners now advancing talks for both Gyökeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško. Arsenal reportedly plan to sign just one of the two, leaving United hopeful that the north London club prioritise Šeško.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, United are not relying solely on Gyökeres and have identified another prolific striker—scorer of 25 goals last season—who is available for a limited time due to a £44.5 million release clause. The identity of the alternative forward has not been confirmed, but the clause provides United with a potentially cost-effective solution to strengthen their frontline.
With the transfer window progressing, Manchester United are expected to accelerate their pursuit of a new forward in the coming weeks.
