Manchester United remain interested in their bid to sign Joao Neves this summer transfer window as a recent report disclosed that they have submitted a new and improved transfer offer for the Benfica star.

A report via the Correio da Manhã, disclosed that Man Utd tabled a new offer worth £60 million (€70 million).

However, the report further disclosed that Man United’s offer was rejected by Benfica.

This is another blow for Man Utd as they remain keen to bolster their squad ahead of next season under their manager Erik ten Hag.

Recall that the Portuguese side had previously turned down a £51 million offer for the 19-year-old in June.

According to the terms of Neves’ contract, he has a release clause worth £105 million (€120 million), which the same figure Chelsea had to pay to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in January 2023.

It is yet to be known if the Red Devils will be willing to submit a third bid or focus on other players.

Aside from Man Utd, their neighbours and rivals Man City are also interested in Neves who they considered a worthy replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.

This comes amid claims that De Bruyne has verbally agreed to join Saudi club Al-Ittihad this summer.
