Man Utd join Arsenal in the race for Bayern Munich star

Manchester United are the latest club to join the race to sign Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to Football Transfers.

The Red Devils’ Premier League rivals Arsenal are also in the race to sign the Dutch centre-back but it is still Man Utd who are leading the race to sign the defender.

De Ligt has been linked with moves to leave the German champions at the end of the season after falling down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena.

So far this season, former Chelsea and now Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel has favoured a centre-back duo of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae.

In Bayern’s 3-0 loss against Leverkusen, De Light was an unused substitute.

A report via Sky Germany revealed De Ligt is not entirely content with his present role at Bayern, and the former captain of Ajax is now uneasy in Munich.

On the other hand, Man Utd need a new player following Lisandro Martinez’s recent injury.
