Former Liverpool star, Danny Murphy, has applauded Manchester United for making moves to sign Andre Onana from Italian club Inter Milan this summer transfer window.

Murphy in his statement tipped Onana to make a ‘massive’ difference at Old Trafford once he arrives at the club.

It is no longer news that the Red Devils are closing in on a deal to sign the Cameroon international who they consider as a worthy replacement for David De Dea who left this summer as a free agent.

Having worked with Man Utd’s manager Erik ten Hag during their time at Ajax, a move to Old Trafford is another opportunity for Onana to reunite with the coach.

“Yeah massive,” Murphy told talkSPORT when asked if Onana’s arrival would make a big difference to Man United’s style of play.

He added, “I think it is massive in the way that when you watch [Manchester] City, and there is a really good press on them, from a good side, he [Ederson] is so comfortable missing out the first press with a lovely little ping out wide to a full back or a wide man who is dropped, a full back who is pushed on.”
