Man Utd, Arsenal and 6 other clubs that provided evidence against Man City
Top Premeir League clubs Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United were named among the eights clubs that provided evidence on behalf of the Premier League in their case with Manchester City over sponsorship rules.
Recall that Man City led by Pep Guardiola claimed they won a landmark legal victory against the Premier League on Monday, after a Tribunal ruled that some of the competition’s sponsorship rules are unlawful.
The Associated Party Transactions (APTs) rules were put in place to prevent companies associated with the owners of football clubs from intentionally paying over the odds for deals with the clubs themselves.
The rules made the Premier League turn down Man City’s new sponsorship deal they had planned in 2023 and a second deal with an Abu Dhabi-based bank.
However, a Tribunal has now ruled that the Premier League was wrong to block the deals, because elements of the ATP regulation breaches the Competition Act.
It has also been revealed that eight of Manchester City’s rivals gave evidence against the club including their arch rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.
Other EPL clubs who provided evidence against the Citizens are Wolves, Liverpool, West Ham, Brentford, Bournemouth and Fulham.
