Manchester City may be struggling with a challenging start to the season, but they are set to receive a significant financial boost in the January transfer window.

Despite suffering eight defeats in their last 11 matches across all competitions and sitting fifth in the Premier League, City are reportedly planning to spend up to £200 million to rejuvenate their squad.

The defending champions’ poor form has raised concerns, with their current standing putting them at risk of missing out on qualification for the newly structured Champions League. However, according to *The Mirror*, Pep Guardiola will be backed with a substantial transfer budget as he aims to turn the team’s fortunes around.

Arsenal and Chelsea, both title contenders themselves, will be keeping a close eye on City’s moves in January. One of the players who may be targeted is Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, whose contract is set to expire in the summer. Guardiola knows Kimmich well, having coached him during his time at Bayern before moving to City in 2016.

In the wake of these struggles, Guardiola has opened up about the personal toll the results have taken on him, admitting to sleepless nights and a loss of appetite. “I sleep badly and I don’t digest [food]. I always have to eat light. Only soup in the evening,” Guardiola told Amazon Prime. Despite these challenges, the 53-year-old reaffirmed his commitment to the club, stating that leaving now would be “impossible” and expressing confidence that the team could rebound.

Although City’s recent form has been disappointing, Guardiola has led the club to numerous triumphs, including six Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups, and a Champions League trophy. Despite the current struggles, Guardiola remains focused on the future and insists he has no regrets about signing a new two-year contract last month.

Meanwhile, City’s failure to close the gap on their rivals was evident on Sunday, as they suffered a late 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, leaving them trailing both Arsenal and Chelsea in the Premier League race.
