Lukaku not at Chelsea to replace Werner – Former Chelsea star reveals

Chelsea re-signed their former player, Romelu Lukaku this summer and he has already gotten the ground running.

Many football fans are of the opinion that Lukaku was signed as a replacement for German international, Timo Werner who underperformed for the Blues last season.

However, former Chelsea star, Glen Johnson is of the opinion that Lukaku is not at Stamford Bridge to replace Werner and he believes Werner still has the opportunity to save his career at the club.

Recall that Werner was the Blues striker last season but he was only able to score six goals in 35 Premier League outings.

There are already claims that he could leave Stamford Bridge for another club to get more game time.

Johnson in his statement said Werner still has a future at Chelsea, but may have to consider playing on the wing in order to cement a spot in the first team.

“Romelu Lukaku hasn’t come in to replace Werner within the squad,” Johnson told BonusCodeBets via Metro UK.

Hopefully, Thomas Tuchel could consider giving Werner a chance on the team again, but that would be very rare, especially if Lukaku continues to perform.
