Liverpool Close to Fifth Summer Signing After Kerkez Deal

Liverpool’s busy summer transfer window is showing no signs of slowing down, with reports suggesting that their next major signing—following the imminent arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth—“will go through” in what is being described as a “fantastic deal” for the club.
Kerkez is expected to join for a reported £40 million fee, pushing Liverpool’s total summer spend to around £170 million, making them one of the window’s most active investors.
The Hungarian left-back will follow high-profile additions Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Armin Pesci, joining a squad already boosted by the earlier signings of Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili during Arne Slot’s debut season.
Slot has been given the freedom to reshape the squad as he looks to build on Liverpool’s historic 2024/25 campaign, which saw them claim their 20th Premier League title. With several key departures expected to balance the books, Liverpool remain in the market for more reinforcements before the window closes.
A new striker remains a top priority, with the club reportedly targeting Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike. Discussions are said to be advancing with one target, with personal terms close to being agreed.
Liverpool are also actively searching for a new centre-back to strengthen their defensive depth. As the window progresses, the Reds appear determined to make bold moves that position them for sustained success under Slot’s leadership.
