Chelsea interim manager, Frank Lampard in a latest statement has revealed he is focused on this season as he stressed that he is not looking beyond this season.

Lampard made this known during his first press conference after he was unveiled on Thursday afternoon.

The former midfielder, who signed a short-term deal with the Blues until the end of this season arrived at the club as a replacement for Graham Potter who was sacked last Sunday, following a 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa.

When asked if he saw himself staying on into the 2023/2024 campaign, Lampard replied: “I’m not getting ahead of myself.

“Roberto (Di Matteo) did an incredible job and stayed on. In simple terms, it won’t be my decision as such.

“I’m focusing on the job at hand.”

Should the Blues not qualify for European football next season, Lampard is likely to remain in charge as many of the top coaches may turn down the chance to coach Chelsea.
