Lampard set to return to Chelsea for third time
Former Chelsea star Frank Lampard has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge as a new manager.
This comes as reports revealed the former England midfielder has been tipped to replace Emma Hayes as the manager of the Blues women’s team.
Hayes will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after 12 years in charge.
The 47-year-old will exit Chelsea to become the next head coach of the USA women’s national team.
Former Everton midfielder Izzy Christiansen in a report claimed Lampard is Hayes’s ideal successor.
Lampard has taken charge of the men’s team on two different occasions.
“I do have a name in mind, but I’ve never heard anyone throw it out there. Frank Lampard,” Christiansen said while speaking to LiveScore.
“He’s somebody who knows the club inside out. From my experiences at Everton and listening to him speak, he’s the right type of character. His level of communication and knowledge of the game could be really effective, and I think you’ve got someone well accustomed to what it means to be Chelsea.”
