Chelsea interim manager, Frank Lampard named the club’s youngest side in Premier League history to play against Manchester United on Thursday at Old Trafford.

At 23 years and 238 days, this is Chelsea’s youngest-ever average starting squad in a Premier League match.

Nine of the players that start against Man United are currently aged 23 or under.

This makes Chelsea the third club to start as many players under 24 for a Premier League match, after Middlesbrough with 10 players vs Fulham in May 2006 and Aston Villa with 10 vs Swansea, in Jan 2013.

Chelsea team that faced Man Utd were Arrizabalaga Kepa, Trevor Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Lewis Hall, Cesar Azpilicueta, Conor Gallagher, Enzo Fernandez, Chukwuemeka, Noni Madueke, Mudryk, Kai Havertz.

The Blues, however, suffered a shameful defeat to the Red Devils who thrashed them in a 4-1 win to secure a spot in the top four and the Champions League next season.
