A report via The Athletic revealed Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement with Frank Lampard which will see him manage the team for the rest of the season.

According to the report, a deal is expected to have been reached before Chelsea’s weekend Premier League game vs the Wolves.

Lampard’s arrival at Chelsea will make it the third manager at the club since Todd Boehly took over last year.

While Lampard is expected to be an interim manager, the Blues have their eyes on Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern Munich as their next permanent manager.

Aside from Nagelsmann, former Barcelona and Spain head coach Luis Enrique is also on the target list and was said to have held talks with the club in London on Wednesday.

Chelsea will, however, not rush the process, as the club co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are committed to carrying out a thorough process before naming a long-term option.
