Jaap Stam gives his take on this Man Utd defender

Former Manchester United star, Jaap Stam in a recent statement has given his take on defender Tyrell Malacia’s performance at Old Trafford.

According to Stam, the 23-year-old likes to gamble at times.

Recall that Malacia moved to Old Trafford from Dutch side Feyenoord Rotterdam last summer, he, however, has Luke Shaw ahead of him as the first-choice left-back under manager Erik ten Hag.

Last season, when Shaw was played as a central defender, it gave the defender the opportunity to get more chances.

“Well, you know, it is not easy for him because he has Shaw in front of him,” Stam said (via Man United’s website).

“He likes to gamble, at times, as well, and sometimes you need to be aggressive.

“I think he is a good man to have as a left-back behind Shaw. You know, when Shaw is not able to play or when Ten Hag is using him in a different position, he can step in and do that job without being a doubt for the manager to think about if he is producing or not.”
