Former Chelsea and now Real Madrid player Eden Hazard has been linked with a shock return to the EPL where he could join his former international teammate, Vincent Kompany, at newly-promoted club Burnley.

A report via Spanish outlet Fichajes, revealed Kompany, who is currently the manager of Burnley, is keen on signing Hazard to the club.

The former Manchester City star feels Hazard still possesses quality in the twilight of his career.

The report further revealed that Burnley would use Kompany’s prior connection with Hazard in the national team to make their interest known.

Hazard is already considered a surplus to requirements at Real Madrid and is out of favour at the club as manager Carlo Ancelotti prefers to start other players ahead of him at Santiago Bernabeu.

So far, Hazard has started only three of nine games across competitions for Real Madrid, scoring one goal and creating two assists.

The Belgian star’s contract with the Los Blancos will expire in 2024, so he could be available in the summer as Transfermarkt values him at €5m.
