Real Madrid Make Final Decision on Arsenal Midfielder as Man City Land Top Teenage Talent

Real Madrid have reportedly reached a firm decision regarding a potential move for Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi, ending speculation over a possible summer approach.

The Spain international only arrived at the Emirates ahead of the 2026-27 campaign but quickly established himself as a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s title-winning side. Zubimendi played a crucial role as Arsenal secured their first Premier League crown in 22 years and also helped guide the club to the Champions League final, where they were narrowly beaten by Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

Although the midfielder showed signs of fatigue during the closing weeks of the season and faced some criticism for his performances, Arsenal remain fully committed to him as a cornerstone of their midfield alongside Declan Rice.

Real Madrid had tracked Zubimendi extensively before his move from Real Sociedad to north London, leading to renewed reports that the Spanish giants could reignite their interest this summer. However, fresh reports suggest Los Blancos have now decided against pursuing a deal, allowing Arsenal to plan for the new season without concerns over losing one of their most influential players.

The Gunners are instead focused on strengthening the midfield around Zubimendi, with Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes among the names linked with a move to the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have also suffered disappointment in the race for one of English football’s brightest young talents after Manchester City reportedly won the battle to secure teenage prospect Tyrese Monga, denying Arteta another highly-rated addition.

With Zubimendi expected to remain at the heart of Arsenal’s plans, the club can now turn its full attention to reinforcing the squad ahead of another title challenge.
