Former Chelsea star’s contract with Arsenal on standstill
Italy international Jorginho may be linked with possible move away from Arsenal especially as his new contract with the Gunners are “at a standstill”.
The 31-year-old who moved to Mikel Arteta’s side from Chelsea in January, signed a one-and-a-half-year contract until the summer of 2024.
So far, the Italian midfielder has made a total of 30 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, including eight starts and six substitute outings so far this season.
He had previously revealed he was happy at Emirates Stadium, however, Jorginho in a more recent report hinted at making a return to the Serie A, thereby raising doubt on his future at Arsenal.
Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos has since issued an update on his client’s future and has set Arsenal a deadline to negotiate a contract extension.
Asked whether Jorginho will renew his contract during an interview with TUTTOmercatoWEB, Santos said: “Everything is at a standstill.
“We’ll think about it after February. However, the priority remains Arsenal.”
Arsenal have the chance to extend Jorginho’s contract by a further 12 months until the summer of 2025
