Former Chelsea star shines as Ipswich defeats the Blues
Chelsea’s chance of making it back to the Premier League title race has gotten more challenging after they suffered a defeat to low side Ipswich at Portman Road on Monday night in the Premier League.
The match saw former Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson haunt the Blues.
Chelsea led by manager Enzo Maresca were rocked by Liam Delap’s early penalty and a second half goal from Hutchinson.
The is makes it the Blues’ second successive defeat after their Boxing Day loss against Fulham left them without a win in their last three matches.
Chelsea, who were considered title contender are at in fourth place, 10 points behind league leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
Meanwhile, third-bottom Ipswich climb within one point of safety after winning three points off the Blues for the second time in their last four matches.
The win against Chelsea has renewed Kieran McKenna’s side’s belief that they can avoid relegation to the Championship thanks to their first top-flight home win in 22 years.
In other news, Chelsea will now focus on their next game against Crystal Palace in their first game in 2025.
The Blues will hope to bounce back with a win against the Seagulls.
