Former Blues goalkeeper insists experience defender isn’t good enough to play for Chelsea
Former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has insisted that Germany international Antonio Rudiger is not good enough for the London club.
Chelsea have been having a mixed second season under Frank Lampard as their performance have continued to raise eyebrows every week.
Frank Lampard has been forced to change his starting line up more often this season as they’ve struggled to keep a clean sheet as well as score goals.
Antonio Rudiger has struggled for game time this season but he has started the last two games as he seems to have won back the heart of Frank Lampard.
However, Mark Schwarzer believes Frank Lampard should be overlooking a German Rudiger in the starting lineup as there are better options available to him.
Schwarzer while speaking with Stadium Astro stated that he’s very surprised that Rudiger is back in the side because he doesn’t think he’s that great a defender.
The former Fulham goalkeeper noted that he does not think Rudiger is good enough to play for Chelsea despite that he has had enough opportunities.
He pinpointed that though last season or the season before Rudiger had a lot of injury issues, Kurt Zouma next to Silva is however the best combination and they showed a couple of weeks ago how good they are together.
Schwarzer who seems certain of his findings about Rudiger added that he would start Andreas Christensen and Tomori ahead of Rudiger who was on the pitch from start to finish during Chelsea’s loss at Leicester City.
