FA Cup: Why Ronaldo was left out vs Aston Villa

Man Utd on Monday night hosted Aston Villa in the third round of the FA Cup tournament.

It was surprising that Portugal international Christiano Ronaldo was left out of the match in the Red Devils squad that faced Aston Villa.

Man Utd coach Ralf Rangick has revealed that Ronaldo was left out because of a muscle complaint.

Ronaldo was not the only absentee during the match against  Steven Gerrard’s men on Monday.

Phil Jones was also sidelined owing to a minor calf injury after a strong performance against Wolves last week in the EPL.

Nemanja Matic also missed the match whilee Bruno Fernandes made his first start since his return from suspension.

Marcus Rashford also started over Jadon Sancho during the game.

Despite the absence of some of their key players, the Red Devils managed to win the match by a 1-0 scoreline thanks to an early goal by Scott McTominay in the first half.

The Red Devils. have now qualified for the next stage of the FA Cup tournament.

They will, however, meet with Aston Villa again on Saturday in the EPL.
