Chelsea suffered their first defeat this season in their premier league clash against the title champions Man City on Wednesday in a 1-0 scoreline.

The Blues defender, Cesar Azpilicueta, in a post-match statement, has revealed why the Blues lost the match.

According to Azpilicueta, he stressed that Chelsea were not at their best as Man City were at their best level.

The Citizens dominated the Blues in the first half and got their chance in the second half after Gabriel Jesus fired home to ensure they defeated Thomas Tuchel’s side at Stamford Bridge.

“It was not our best performance,” Azpilicueta was quoted by Daily Mail as saying at his post-match press conference.

He added that in the first half, it was hard for the Blues to get out; they were unable to create chances and lost the ball too easily.

The defender stressed that after the goal in the second half, they had a good reaction, but it was not enough to get something from the game.

“They were at their best level. We couldn’t keep the ball as we like to do. We made so many mistakes, ones that we normally don’t make,” Azpilicueta added.

Chelsea will hope to return to winning ways in their next match vs Juventus in the UCL.
