Everton ended the Blues undefeated run this season as the game at Goodison Park on Saturday night ended with a 1-0.

Following the defeat, Chelsea are now two points behind league toppers Liverpool and Tottenham and the gap could further widen if the clubs win their respective matches on Sunday.

Frank Lampard in a post match has revealed reasons for Chelsea’s defeat.

According to Lampard, he stated that his side were not at their best against Carlos Ancelotti’s men. He added that they didn’t show enough to break down the Toffees squad.

“We could have got something out of the game, but I wouldn’t say we were unlucky,” Lampard was quoted by Chelsea’s official website.

The Blues coach stressed that Chelsea players weren’t at their best and didn’t deal with the physicality of the early parts of the game well.

“Once you go 1-0 down you give yourself a problem and give them something to hang on to. We didn’t show enough to break them down.

“If we are honest with ourselves, it wasn’t the us of recently,” he added.

Chelsea will have to get their acts together ahead of their next match against Wolves on Tuesday.

A defeat to the Wolves could see them drop out of the top four.
