The Blues will on Sunday return to action in the EPL when they host Tottenham Hotspurs at Stamford Bridge in their 2nd game and 1st home game of the season.

Chelsea head to the match after their 1-0 win over Everton last weekend at Goodison Park.

The match is expected to be hard for the Blues as they face the Hotspurs, who defeated Southampton in their last weekend’s game.

Ahead of the match, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel gave the team an update as he disclosed his side would be without key players.

Marcos Alonso, who was missing at Goodison Park last Saturday, is in Tuchel’s thinking for Sunday.

‘He [Alonso] is not in training at the moment and is trying to finalise his transfer. He will not be available for Sunday’s game,’ Tuchel said.

There has also been an injury to one of Tuchel’s central midfielders.

‘It is the same for Kovacic, who is injured unfortunately with his knee, there has been a reaction. We decided to take a step back, to increase treatment time to reduce the stress that comes from training to have a normal reaction before we start again. Everybody else is available.’
