England manager lavish praise on Chelsea midfielder after another impressive display

England manager Gareth Southgate was full of praise for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount for his impressive performance against San Marino.

The three lions put in a dominant display against San Marino at the Wembley stadium by winning five goals to nil.

Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a brace as they were strikes from James Ward-Prowse, stand-in skipper Raheem Sterling and debutant Ollie Watkins.

However, Mason Mount who has established himself as a key player under Southgate put in a strong performance as he created eight chances from open play in just 45 minutes.

Speaking to the press after the match, Southgate stated that Mount is a top player who not only with his work on the ball, but the way he pressed when the team lost it, the way he recovered and won the ball back on the rare occasion San Marino managed to play through.

Southgate noted that Mount’s weight of pass was excellent and his all-round game is just very good.

The England manager added that he was just struck when Mount was talking to the media how mature he was in that instance but the team have got so many good young players.
