Chelsea have reportedly discovered an alternative player to sign in case they are unable to bring in Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea are keen on bringing in a new striker in the summer transfer window and Inter Milan star, Romelu Lukaku is being targeted as a replacement for Haaland.

With Dortmund fixing Haaland’s transfer fee at £150 million, it is unlikely that the Blues among other clubs will be willing to make any further move for him this summer.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Lukaku is an alternative option at Chelsea should Haaland be deemed unavailable.

The report revealed that the Blues board are ready to spend a significant amount of their transfer budget on a centre-forward this summer.

Lukaku was at Stamford Bridge as an 18-year-old back in 2011 but played just 15 games for the Blues before moving to Everton.

He, however, went on to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s best strikers at Everton before he moved to Manchester United in a £75million deal back in 2017.

He currently play at San Siro for Inter Milan and has scored over 55 goals for the Italian club since he joined former Chelsea coach Antonio Conte’s side in the summer of 2019 from Man United.

It is unlikely that Conte will let his favourite striker return to Stamford Bridge.
