EFL: How Chelsea could lineup vs Tottenham

Published

on

Chelsea will on Wednesday return to action in the EFL when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of the Semi-final.

The Blues will be heading to the match after their recent 2-2 draw vs Liverpool in the EPL on Sunday.

Chelsea are expected to give Romelu Lukaku another chance to play this match as he was dropped out of their squad that played Liverpool on Sunday after his controversial interview with Sky Sports Italia.

Since the Belgian striker has apologised and was spotted during the Blues training, there are chances he could at least start from the bench.

Chelsea also recently welcome back Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Timo Werner, who were out due to COVID-19 infection, while Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Andreas Christensen and Ben Chilwell are out on injury.

If Tuchel refused to start Lukaku or Werner, then Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech could take charge at the front.

Jorginho is expected to start alongside  Mateo Kovacic, who was impressive vs Liverpool.

At the back, Tuchel could start Malang Sarr alongside Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger.

Chelsea number one goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is unavailable as he is playing in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament for his home country Senegal. This means Kepa Arrizabalaga will start at the goal post for Chelsea.

Chelsea possible starting lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Sarr; Hudson-Odoi, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Ziyech, Pulisic; Havertz
