With the January transfer window still on, there are bound to be transfer rumours making rounds.

The latest report has claimed that Chelsea have submitted a €40 million bid to sign Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong from Spanish giant Barcelona.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Frenkie de Jong is highly wanted by Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

And in a bid to beat Bayern to the race, the report revealed that the Blues have made their first move for the Catalans midfielder by submitting an offer worth €40 million.

It is uncertain why Chelsea want to sign Frenkie as they already have key players like N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Matteo Kovacic in the midfield.

It is uncertain Barcelona will accept the €40 million from Chelsea as they are demanding €60 million to sell him.

A report, however, claimed that the Spanish club could consider €50 million from the West London club.

It would be best for Chelsea to reconsider their pay else Bayern Munich could beat them to the race for the midfielder.
