Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher is poised to explore his future options during England’s Euro 2024 campaign, with talks of a potential transfer heating up, including interest from Tottenham.

Amidst Chelsea’s financial considerations, it was previously believed that player sales before the June 30 deadline were necessary to secure transfer fees within the profitability and sustainability regulations for the 2023/24 period. However, Chelsea insists on maintaining compliance for this term, albeit with uncertainties in the coming years.

With Gallagher’s contract set to expire in 12 months and no progress made on extending his stay at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea is open to his sale.

England manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed that players in his Euro 2024 squad, including Gallagher, are free to engage in transfer discussions.

Southgate emphasized his support for players navigating transfer matters, acknowledging the natural course of such negotiations. He underscored the need for flexibility in dealing with potential deals that may arise swiftly.

Gallagher, a Chelsea supporter himself, faces a pivotal juncture, with the possibility of departing the club on a free transfer if no fresh contract is secured. Recognizing this, Chelsea aims to recuperate funds promptly rather than risk losing him for nothing.

Despite Gallagher’s significant role in the 2023/24 season, earning substantial game time, Chelsea had not prioritized extending his contract since the 2022 takeover. However, his impressive performance has shifted perspectives, prompting reconsideration of his future at the club.

Having previously attracted interest from Crystal Palace and Everton, Gallagher’s importance to Chelsea has grown, although an exit remains plausible, facilitated by Southgate’s accommodating stance on transfer activities within the national team camp.
