Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori has finally opened up on why he left Stamford Bridge for greener pastures in Seria A with AC Milan.

Fikayo Tomori continued his good form under Frank Lampard at Chelsea last season after an impressive loan deal in Derby County but he has been forced to spend majority of this season on the bench.

The arrival of Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain has played a huge role in Tomori’s failure to make the team and have been forced to look elsewhere.

Having been linked with AC Milan for majority of the transfer windows, Tomori finally moved to the Seria A toppers and during a recent interview has revealed why he made the move.

The 23-year-old centre-back stated that it was an opportunity that he couldn’t turn down.

According to Tomori, when he first got called about the move, he was a bit confused and a bit surprised.

He noted that he spoke to legendary defender, Paolo Maldini, the best defender to ever play football and he was asking him to come. From there he knew AC Milan is the club for him.
