Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour has identified Cesc Fabregas as the player he wants to emulate at Stamford Bridge as he continues his journey to the highest level.

Billy Gilmour broke into Chelsea first team under Frank Lampard last season as he put in some impressive performance but serious knee injury had kept him out since July.

The 19-year-old is now back to full fitness and played all 90 minutes in Chelsea’s win over Mycombe in their FA cup third round match, putting in an impressive performance.

He has now revealed his plans of getting among Frank Lampard’s first team list by emulating Cesc Fabregas ability to create from the deep, not just maintaining possession, but creating attacks from central positions.

Speaking to the club official website, Gilmour stated that when he was watching Cesc, it was all about his forward passes to the striker, whether it was a lofted pass, a clipped ball or just a simple through ball.

Gilmour noted that Fabregas was one of the best at doing that, especially at Chelsea, and he wants to add that more to his own game, but it comes first of all from being aware of what’s around him whenever the game is on.

Speaking of Fabregas altitude, Gilmour noted that he speaks a lot about the boys because he obviously used to be at the club but it’s always nice seeing a top midfielder like that comment on his game.
