A report via the Sun has revealed that Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly has taken a decision to pay midfielder Ross Barkley to leave the club immediately.

So far this season, Barkley has not featured in any game for Chelsea.

The English midfielder, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Everton in 2018 for £15m, has failed to impress at Chelsea, scoring 12 goals in 100 games.

Barkley was sent out on loan to Aston Villa last season, but he returned to Chelsea last term and only made 14 appearances across all competitions.

With the Blues hoping to welcome Anthony Gordon from Everton before the deadline closes, The Sun reports that the Blues are set to terminate Barkley’s contract to free up space.

Barkley, who was a part of Chelsea’s pre-season tour last month, has a year remaining on his current deal and his reported salary is £200k a week.
