Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour has identified Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay as the toughest midfielder he has faced ever since he made his rise to the first team.

Billy Gilmour became the latest Chelsea youth player to break through the ranks when Frank Lampard gave him a shot at first team football last season.

The Scottish international grabbed the opportunity with his two hands as he put in impressive performance whenever he’s being called upon.

However, a knee injury ended his season but have been back in recent week doing what he does best.

Speaking about the toughest player he has played so far, Gilmour chose country teammate Scott McTominay, who has turned into a brilliant centre-back for Steve Clarke on the international scene.

Both players squared it up against themselves during Carabao Cup action in 2019 and it’s a match Gilmour won’t forget in a hurry.

Gilmour stated that it was against Manchester United and the player was Scott McTominay.

The young midfielder pinpointed that he know he’s fellow Scottish and all that but he was so good, quick, strong and technically good, so it was tough playing against him.

According to Gilmour, McTominay played really good as he was stopping everything in midfield and controlling the game.

Gilmour is currently fighting for a place in Thomas Tuchel’s immediate Chelsea plans for rest of the season.
