Chelsea set to terminate striker’s contract amid his link to French club
A report via ESPN has revealed that Chelsea are ready to terminate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract to enable him to move to French Ligue 1 club Marseille as a free agent.
Aubameyang is said to have reached a verbal agreement with Marseille and will sign a 3-year deal with the French club.
The striker joined Chelsea from Spanish club Barcelona last summer transfer window but has struggled to impress at Stamford Bridge, with only three goals to his name.
Aubameyang’s deal with Marseille will make his second return to the French Ligue, having played in France 10 years ago at Saint-Etienne between 2011 and 2013.
With Chelsea trimming down their squad this summer transfer window following the arrival of manager Mauricio Pochettino, Aubameyang is tipped to join the list of players to exit the club.
Aside from Aubamyang, another striker who the Blues are ready to permit to leave the club is Belgian star Romelu Lukaku.
