Raheem Sterling appears to be on his way out of Chelsea this summer, but the club’s unexpected asking price could make any potential transfer more difficult.

The 30-year-old winger, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 for £47.5 million, has struggled to find consistent form and is now considered surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling spent last season on loan at Arsenal, where he made just 28 appearances in all competitions and scored only once. Despite high expectations, he failed to secure a regular starting role and has since returned to Chelsea, where opportunities under new manager Enzo Maresca are expected to be limited.

With two years remaining on his contract, Sterling has reportedly been placed on the transfer list alongside other senior players such as Ben Chilwell, Joao Felix, and Axel Disasi. All four are said to be training separately from the first team at Cobham as the club prepares for a significant squad reshuffle.

Chelsea are now said to be seeking a permanent move for Sterling and are looking to offload his substantial £325,000-a-week wage bill. However, the price tag attached to the England international—considered high by many fans—has raised eyebrows and could deter interested clubs.

Sterling is not expected to feature in Chelsea’s pre-season friendly against Bromley as the club prioritises finding a new destination for the experienced forward.
