Chelsea have been previously linked with moves for Napoli star and Nigerian star Victor Osimhen since the beginning of last season.

The Blues are hoping to sign a new striker in the ongoing summer transfer window and they were once focused on Osimhen as the man to lead their attack next season.

The Nigerian star caught attention with his impressive performance in the Serie A following his transfer from Lille in 2020.

Osimhen, 25-year-old has scored over 80 goals across all competitions in the last four years.

However, a recent report via Fabrizio Romano has ruled out a move for the Napoli forward.

Romano stated that the Blues are no longer working on a deal for the player this summer.

Simon Phillips, in his recent column highlighted the significant cost involved in in a transfer as a key reason behind the Blues dropping their interest.

Recall that Osimhen penned a contract extension at the Italian club Napoli in December last year, with his current deal at the club running until the summer of 2026.

According to the report, Osimhen’s extension includes a release clause, possibly in the region of £112 million.
