Chelsea, others advised to learn from Liverpool
Former Premier League midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker in a recent statement has reached out to Chelsea and other EPL sides on how to operate in the transfer market.
Reo-Coker advised the Blues and a host of others to learn from Liverpool’s style of selling players at the right time.
He made this known in his reaction to Sadio Mane’s move from Anfield to German champions Bayern Munich.
The former football star hailed Liverpool for coping with the loss of such an integral part of the team.
While Manchester United allowed the likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and a few others to leave Old Trafford as free agents, Chelsea in the same manner saw their defence mainstay, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave on free transfers.
Speaking on the BBC’s Football Daily podcast, Reo-Coker said, “They are always planning ahead and have got the structure and pieces in place to deal with departures.
“From a business perspective, it’s the right time to sell Mane.
“Other clubs play hardball over players and then lose them on a free transfer a year later.
“Think they could learn from how Liverpool know when to let go of their players.”
