Nico Williams, the rising star of Spain, is dazzling at Euro 2024 and drawing interest from top clubs across Europe.

Chelsea might have an advantage in securing his signature over rivals like Tottenham and Barcelona, thanks to Marc Cucurella.

The Athletic Bilbao winger, whose release clause is reportedly between £45-50 million, is being courted by several major clubs.

Cucurella, a Chelsea full-back and Williams’ Spain teammate, has been actively encouraging him to join the Blues. “He would be a great signing for Barcelona, but it all depends on what he wants,” Cucurella told Sport. “I’ve been telling him to sign for Chelsea. In the end, everything depends on him. He is very young, with a lot of experience. I think he will be a great player.”

Cucurella also praised another young talent, Lamine Yamal, the 16-year-old Barcelona prodigy making waves at Euro 2024. “It’s amazing with his age, how he moves, the decisions he makes… The best thing about him is that he never repeats the same play, he’s unpredictable.

For me and for any defense, it is very difficult to stop him,” he added.

As Chelsea and Tottenham vie for Williams’ signature, the influence of Cucurella could be a significant factor in tipping the scales in favor of the Blues.
