Chelsea has reportedly been keeping tabs on Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, who might be available for a move this summer.

The Blues are in the process of finalizing the appointment of Enzo Maresca as their new manager after Mauricio Pochettino’s recent departure. With the upcoming transfer window, Chelsea aims to bolster their squad to support Maresca’s tenure effectively.

As part of their summer recruitment plans, Chelsea is eyeing reinforcements in various positions, including center-back, left-back, striker, and possibly goalkeeper.

The departure of Thiago Silva has left a leadership vacuum in the squad, compounded by the potential sale of Trevoh Chalobah due to financial considerations. Consequently, the club is scouting for suitable replacements, with Tosin Adarabioyo among the targets, although he’s not the sole focus.

Recent reports from the Evening Standard suggest that Chelsea’s interest extends to Ronald Araujo, known for his versatility in defense. Despite Araujo’s impressive performances for Barcelona, his astronomical release clause poses a significant obstacle. However, given Barcelona’s financial constraints, a substantial offer could prompt consideration from the Catalan club.

While Araujo’s addition could greatly enhance Chelsea’s defensive capabilities, the likelihood of securing his services appears slim due to the complexities involved, including the hefty price tag. Consequently, Chelsea may opt to allocate their resources elsewhere in pursuit of strengthening the squad for the upcoming season.
