Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is starting the new year with a nomination.

This comes as Sanchez’s save to deny Brentford’s Christian Norgaard was recognised among the nominees for the Premier League’s best save in December.

Recall that the west London side had gone head-to-head with the Bees last month, with defender Marc Cucurella putting Chelsea in the lead before the break.

The Blues, however, faced some challenges from Brentford towards the end of the match as they were keen on scoring an equaliser.

While the Blues tried to hold on to the narrow one-nil lead at Stamford Bridge, Norgaard, unmarked at the back-post,  volleyed a powerful effort towards goal which forced Sanchez to make an instinctive reaction save to tip the ball over the crossbar, denying Brentford’s a point.

After Sanchez’s impressive save, Chelsea scored a second goal before full time thanks to an effort from Nicolas Jackson as they won all three points.

Recall that Sanchez won the Save of the Month prize for his stunning stop against Nottingham Forest back in October.
