With Chelsea trying to get their season back on track after some torrid performance, the Blues might be having a new winger in Antonio Rudiger who opened up on his former position.

Antonio Rudiger who is known as a centre-back has revealed that he used to play as a winger at German side Hertha Zehlendorf during his early days.

Rudiger has become a reputable centre-back and this prompted Chelsea to sign him from Roma, a move they have never regretted due to his impressive performance.

The Germany international when reminiscing about the days that he used to play alongside American stars John Brooks and Jerome Kiesewetter shared the deep secret that may come as a shock to fans.

Rudiger who is now 27 years old admitted he used to play in a front three with the two USA players, in something that would be very strange to see nowadays.

Speaking with T-Online, Rudiger stated that he played at Hertha Zehlendorf in the attack together with John Brooks who is a Bundesliga defender at Wolfsburg today.

Rudiger stated that the team played with a three-man forward line with John in the middle, Jerome Kiesewetter, who now plays for Inter Miami in the USA, on the right and himself on the left.

According to the Blues player, he was a fast winger alongside Jerome who is on the right and John was technically good and very tall early on, he mostly headed the balls in from the centre

Rudiger noted that the trio were very good, and that’s how they came to the attention of the professional clubs at that time.

With some Chelsea wingers currently out injured, Frank Lampard might be thinking of giving Antonio Rudiger a chance on the left.
