Chelsea have confirmed the departure of their goalkeeper and Senegal star Edouard Mendy.

The Senegalese goalkeeper joins the list of Chelsea players that have left the club this summer transfer window as they plan to cut down the size of their squad.

Mendy, who played at Chelsea for three seasons has completed his transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.

The 31-year-old goalie would be remembered at Chelsea for his key role in the Blues’ run to Champions League glory in 2021, under former manager Thomas Tuchel.

“A hugely likeable character on and off the pitch, Edouard will always have a place in our history for his significant contributions to our 2021 Champions League triumph,” a Chelsea statement read.

“For that, and for everything else, we are grateful. Good luck, Edou!”

Chelsea have since been linked with moves for new goalkeepers they can sign as Mendy’s replacement.
