Chelsea Close In on Winger Signing Despite Arsenal Interest

Chelsea appear to be on the verge of completing another major signing, with reports suggesting a deal is “imminent” for a promising young winger — despite interest from Arsenal.
The Blues are said to have an agreement in place with the player’s club, putting them in a strong position to finalise the transfer ahead of their Premier League rivals.
Having already spent around £100 million this summer, Chelsea continue to lead the way in terms of net spend and show no signs of slowing down. The search for a new wide player intensified after the decision to send Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United following his loan spell.
Sancho’s loan included an obligation to buy for £25 million, but Chelsea opted to trigger a £5 million penalty clause to cancel the deal after an inconsistent season. While the winger showed glimpses of quality — including a goal in the Europa Conference League final — the club ultimately chose not to make the move permanent.
Manager Enzo Maresca and the recruitment team have since shifted their focus to long-term attacking reinforcements and have acted swiftly to secure their next target. Despite a late approach from Arsenal, Chelsea remain in control of the situation, with a formal announcement expected soon.
This transfer signals Chelsea’s continued commitment to building a competitive squad ahead of the upcoming Club World Cup and 2025/26 campaign, as they aim to strengthen depth and quality in key positions.
