Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has once again stood behind his summer signing Kai Havertz as he urged fans to be patient for the Germany international.

Kai Havertz was one of the big-money imports to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window but he has not been able to replicate the form that saw Chelsea sign him from Bayern Leverkusen.

The 21-years-old has been under the spotlight for the past few weeks and this has made him lost his place on Frank Lampard’s starting 11.

However, Frank Lampard ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City stated that moving country and missing pre-season has played a huge role in Kai Havertz’ form.

According to Frank Lampard, Kai Havertz had just eight days with the team and five workdays before he played.

He noted that this is just not beneficial for a player in any league, let alone when the player is coming into the fastest, most physical league in the world.

And just as when Kai Havertz was just coming to terms with the league system he got Covid.

The English trainer noted the Covid-19 contracted by Kai Havertz made him a bit of a fallout with his physicality and it’s something the coaching team are trying to help him to deal with.

Lampard who has so much belief in Kai Havertz talents added that with the expectation around him, fans have to put context into the story as he urged them to give him the time to adapt.
