Chelsea bid farewell to Rudiger
Chelsea have bid farewell to their now former defender Antonio Rudiger as he completed a transfer to Real Madrid, with five trophies to his name at Stamford Bridge.
The German defender played a huge role in many of Chelsea’s successes throughout his stay lifting the FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Chelsea in a statement via its official website also revealed the important role the 29-year-old played in the dressing room with his leadership and passion, while his dedication and desire to win never faltered, even when it became clear he would be leaving the club this summer.
Rudiger made 54 appearances in all competitions this season, which is more than any other Chelsea player.
In total, he made 203 appearances with 12 goals to his name throughout his career at Chelsea, going on to establish himself as one of their key players.
Chelsea Football Club appreciated the German defender for his contribution to their success over the last five years and wishes him well in his future career.
Rudiger is expected to be unveiled as a Real Madrid player on Monday, where he would join some former Chelsea stars like Thibault Courtois and Eden Hazard.
