Chelsea, Arsenal suffer injury blow in race to sign West Brom star

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, have suffered major transfer blow in their bid to sign Josh Maja from West Brom this January transfer window.

This comes as West Brom in a recent statement confirmed Maja has sustained an injury that will rule him out for about six weeks.

Transfer News reported that the Nigerian striker was a major transfer target for the two London clubs.

Transfer News in a tweet via X had written, “Chelsea and Tottenham are considering a January bid for Josh Maja from West Brom.”

Meanwhile, the recent report from West Brom confirmed that the striker will to undergo surgery after sustaining a lower leg injury and is expected to be a away on the sidelines for several weeks.

Maja has been impressive for the English Championship club this season scoring 12 goals and creating two assists in 26 Championship appearances.

He also helped them moved to the 6th place on Championship log.

Maja being out for weeks is also a blow on West Brom as they have to keep going without him.

Chelsea and Tottenham will now have to focus on other options to sign before the January window closes.
