Chelsea, Arsenal suffer blow in race for this Brentford star

Arsenal, Chelsea, among other top clubs have suffered transfer blow after their hope of Brentford selling their star player Ivan Toney for £30million was cut show.

This comes as Brentford manager Thomas Frank in a recent statement  ruled out speculations that the Bees were willing to entertain offers of around £30m for Toney.

So far, the Bees’ highest-ever transfer fee received was £33m from Aston Villa for Ollie Watkins, who scored two goals against them in a captivating 3-3 draw.

Aside from Watkins, David Raya could soon joined one of the players they sold for an expensive price.

Arsenal are expected to make a permanent move for Raya for a total fee of £27m this summer, following an initial loan arrangement where saw the Gunners pay £3m upfront.

There already speculations that Toney will exit Brentford this summer, with current contract expiring in 2025.

However, the Bees boss Frank has publicly acknowledged that the club would entertain offers for the striker, provided they meet the desired valuation.

The manager believed selling Toney for £30 million was not a good deal for the Bees.

“Normally I don’t go into these price labels, but I would say that’s very cheap for a 20-goal goalscorer in the Premier League,” he said during a press conference on Friday before he confirmed that Toney would be fit to start Saturday’s match against Sheffield United.
