Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has advised Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens to turn down a potential move to Chelsea and instead consider joining Manchester United this summer.

Gittens, 20, has emerged as a priority target for new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who is looking to build on the club’s early summer activity following the £30 million signing of England U21 striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. Chelsea are aiming to strengthen further across the pitch, and Gittens is seen as a natural fit for their evolving project.

Dortmund, meanwhile, are reluctant to let the £50 million-rated winger leave and have already rejected two offers for the England U21 international.
