Former football star David Beckham has advised Man Utd striker and Portugal International Cristiano Ronaldo to remain at Old Trafford this summer.

Man Utd lost 4-0 against Brighton on Saturday, leaving them to battle for a sixth place on the table and Europa League qualification.

The Red Devils will undergo some changes in a matter of weeks, with Erik ten Hag taking over as a permanent manager and a couple of out-of-contract players leaving Old Trafford.

Ronaldo, who has one year left on his deal, has also been linked with a departure as the Red Devils fail to qualify for the UCL.

But Beckham has urged the Portuguese star to remain at the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, Beckham said: “Obviously Cristiano is one of the best players over the last 15 years with Leo [Messi].

“To see him stay on – hopefully staying on – at United is important for the fans. It’s important to him, we all know how much Man United means to him.

“And he’s still doing what he does best, scoring goals and creating. That’s what Cristiano does. Even at his age, to be doing what he’s doing, it is really incredible, so hopefully it continues and hopefully he stays for another year or two.”
