Atletico Madrid president, Enrique Cerezo has given an update on Joao Felix’s future at the club.

There are reports that Felix has remained unhappy upon his return to the Spanish club after his loan transfer to Chelsea ended last summer.

He, has, however, been linked with a return to the Premier League amid interest in him from Manchester United.

Felix upon his return to Madrid found out his shirt number has been handed to Antoine Griezmann, an indication the club doesn’t have him in their plans.

It became frustrating for the Portuguese after he was made to train away from the first-team squad during Atletico’s first session on Monday.

The reports claimed after the session, Felix held a tense dialogue with the club’s sporting director, Andrea Berta.

But Atletico president, Cerezo said, “We are happy to have a player of the quality of Joao Félix. Fortunately for us, he plays for Atlético.

“He is a player much loved by everyone. To this day and until the contrary is proven, he is an Atlético player for many seasons.”

Meanwhile, the reports in Spain suggest that aside from Manchester United, two other EPL clubs Newcastle United and Aston Villa have both made contact over a loan move for the Portuguese this summer.
